Mrs. Spurgeon graduated from Northwestern State University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree. In 2015, she earned a Master's in the Art of Teaching from the same institution and shortly thereafter obtained her Educational Leadership certification. Over the past 14 years, she has enjoyed a fulfilling career in Rapides Parish, taking on roles as a classroom teacher, content and data team leader, mentor, lead teacher, and assistant principal. During the 2016-2017 school year, she served as the lead teacher at Mary Goff Elementary before transitioning to the role of Assistant Principal at L.S. Rugg for 3.5 years. In 2021, she moved to Paradise Elementary, where she currently continues to serve as the assistant principal.
Mrs. Spurgeon believes that her role as an assistant principal is vital in supporting student success in various ways. A key responsibility of the school administration is to cultivate a positive school environment, and she plays a significant part in fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere where students feel valued and inspired to learn.
Additionally, Mrs. Spurgeon provides essential resources and support to teachers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver high-quality instruction that directly benefits students. She actively monitors academic performance, helping students stay focused on their goals. Mrs. Spurgeon views her role as crucial in fostering an environment where students can thrive both in their academics and in their personal growth.
